Laurie Triefeldt has worked in the newspaper field since 1986. Educated in Canada she is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and the University of Windsor. Laurie and her husband Rein (a kinetic sculptor) moved to the United States in 1989.

Triefeldt is the author and artist of the weekly education page World of Wonder.  Created in 1997, World of Wonder explores educational themes and examines the realms of history, science, nature, and technology. Well researched and beautifully illustrated in full color, its graphics clarify a wide variety of subjects and concepts in an entertaining manner. Over the years, Triefeldt has demystified such subjects as storms, castles, bugs, magnets, Vikings, night creatures, and ancient Greece.
